Goodtimers 2.0 is our group for retired adults, or at least those with a flexible schedule! Everyone is welcome to join us for this great event – so join us if you can and invite a friend as well! We will meet City Administrator, John Hamilton, and enjoy a tour of City Hall on May 21, at 2:00. He serves as deputy to Mayor Tommy Battle, and is a retired U.S. Army Colonel, having served as Redstone Arsenal Garrison Commander.

You can come on your own and meet at the front door at 2:00, or you can meet at church at 1:30 to form a walking group (it’s only a few blocks away) or hop on our church bus for a ride. We have a registration for this event so that we are sure of all the transportation needs.

We'll meet for sign-in in Fellowship Hall, and walk together to Sam & Greg's for a pizza lunch. Then we will head to Big Spring Park to learn all about the TN watershed from marine biologist Sarah Parsons! She will have lots of cool information and some hands-on experiments for us to do! 

The $10 fee helps to defray the cost of lunch. Join us for this sciencey-fun event!

Goodtimers 2.0 is for you if you are retired, or at least have a more flexible schedule! Join us for a special time of reflection, creativity, and connection at our Down Memory Lane event. 

We invite you to bring along a meaningful item—something that sparks a cherished memory. You’ll have the opportunity to display it and, if you’d like, share the story behind it with others.

For those who enjoy a hands-on activity, our Flower Guild will be offering guidance as you create your own arrangement using a collection of 30 vintage vases.

Prefer to simply relax? Come enjoy light refreshments, warm fellowship, and the joy of being together.

Our PKC (Presbyterian Kids Connection) 3rd – 5th grade crew is on a mission!

~Noon - Our mission begins in the Fellowship Hall for sign-in and baking cookies in the kitchen.

~12:30 - While the cookies cool we will eat lunch and make placemats and posters to support the Kairos Prison Ministry "inside weekend" that next Thursday-Sunday.

~1:15 - We'll pack the cooled cookies into zip-lock bags and keep making as many posters and placemats as we can to gift some encouragement to people who are toward God.

~1:30 - We'll play games!

~2:00 - Parent pick up.

~Noon - Our adventure begins in the Fellowship Hall for sign-in. (Permission form required)

~12:30 - We'll travel on the church bus to Animals R Us petting zoo farm in New Market AL.

~1:00 - We'll eat a picnic lunch.

~1:30 - We'll ride horses, pet and feed animals, and play!

~3:00 - We'll board the bus and head back to church.

~3:30 - Parents pick us up!

Children in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grades (and older) and their parents are invited to a Prayer Education Workshop, March 8, 9:30 – 10:30, in John Allan Hall in the Gideon Blackburn House.

-            Learn about the spiritual practice of prayer

-            Discuss the importance of prayer in your life of faith

-            Discover different ways to pray

The congregation will celebrate this milestone with a “Pray with Me” blessing and gifts of a finger labyrinth, hand-held wooden cross, and a book, March 8, at the 11:00 service.

The Goodtimers 2.0 group – those who are retired, or at lease have a flexible schedule – will gather on Thursday, February 26, from 2:00-3:30, in Fellowship Hall, for an ice cream social. We’ll also take a look forward into 2026 as we plan events that will inspire. Come for the delicious ice cream, the friends, and the fun! Children in 5th grade (and older) and their parents are invited to a Baptism Education Workshop, February 8, 9:30 – 10:30, in John Allan Hall in the Gideon Blackburn House.

• Learn about the sacrament of Baptism and the promises that were made on their behalf by their parents and the congregation.

• Discuss the significance of confirming their own faith when they are in 8th grade, and what that process of Confirmation will involve.

• Discover who walks with children on their journey of faith!

The congregation will celebrate this milestone with a “Walk with Me” blessing and gift of a walking stick, February 8, at the 11:00 service.
