Discipleship Program

Disciple is a program of disciplined Bible study that enriches lives by deepening comprehension of Scripture. It draws on the work of scholars, personal Bible reading and study of the participant, and lively group discussion to increase understanding. These Bible studies have enriched lives by helping participants become closer to God and learn the joys of living a life of discipleship. This fall the following are being offered:

Wednesday Morning Disciple I
9:15 a.m. - 11:15 a.m., Library

Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study provides a foundational overview of the Bible. It serves as the basis for all other studies in the series. Over 34 weeks, it covers the entire Bible, following the biblical story from Creation to the New Jerusalem. It is being offered at two different times this fall.
The cost of the book is $40 and will be collected at the first class.

Thursday Morning Disciple IV

Under the Tree of Life emphasizes worship and the sense of living toward completion. The word under in the title is meant to convey invitation, welcome, sheltering, security and rest. The Old Testament content include the narrative books that cover the period of Israel’s exile and return (Ruth, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, and Daniel) along with the books of poetry and wisdom (Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon and Lamentations. The New Testament content includes the Gospel of John; 1, 2, and 3 John; James; Jude and Revelation. Reading of Scripture and accompanying materials outside of class take approximately 1-3 hours a week. The class includes a weekly viewing of a video and focused discussions on the material studied over the week.
